'Rock on' digital layout

Another digital layout.  I loved these photos taken of my son on his fifth birthday with his new guitar.  This page came together really quickly.  I love the paint splatters and smudges - I am not into messy scrapbooking at all and avoid the paints and mists at all costs (even though I like how it looks).  But that is the beauty of digi scrapping, you can get that painted, misted, messy look without actually getting dirty hands!  And if you decide that you don't like it - you just hit the undo button and have no mess to clean up!  Love it!

A digital layout

I got very lucky and had one of my layouts published in Scrapbooking Memories magazine a couple of months ago.  My first time being published - very exciting!!  It's a layout about my son when he turned two.  I like that it has a lot of journalling.  I love to journal and record all the funny things my kids say and do, and what their favourite things are at a certain point in their life.  It's great to look back on.  Here is the layout:

I have been very busy with my digi scrapping lately.  I am making an album for my Mum's 60th birthday in September, so the pressure is on to hurry up and get it finished!  So unfortunately I haven't had a great deal of time to do much card making as most of my spare time is spent digi scrapping.  But that's OK, I love doing it, and I have been having so much fun going through all Mum's photos from when she was a baby right up to now.  It's so fun to find out the things that she did growing up and the stories behind the photos - I love it!  Once it's finished I will publish some of the pages on my blog.

Front Cover of Project Life

I haven't done a digi scrapbooking post in ages so I thought it was time I shared one of my Project Life pages.  This is the front cover of our Project Life 2011 photo book which arrived a few weeks ago.



I have used a Brandy Murry template from her 'Journallers' collection from Scrap Girls.
All papers and embellishments are by Cinzia Loosemore , they are from her Celebrate digital kit which I love!  (Her kit is available from oscraps).  Love those colours and love the fun embellishments.  I am really drawn to her kits and templates, they are always fab!

I am still loving Project Life -  I have been doing it since June 2009 and went completely digital in 2011.  It is so much quicker and easier than traditional scrapbooking.  My boys love looking through the books at all the photos and remembering the different things that we have done throughout the year.  Makes it totally worthwhile.

Dear Santa...

My boys wrote letters to Santa the other day.  Their requests are few and very simple.  I helped with most of the writing and my boys loved the decorating.  They just love using my clear stamps and spend ages choosing which stamp to use and then what colour ink they should use.  Decisions, decisions!  The blue squiggly line on Rory's picture is actually "a map to show Santa where to go".  I hope Santa knows how to read that map!

Digital papers and 'Dear Santa' alphabet letters are from: Connie Prince 'Growth Spurt' kit - it's not a Christmas kit but it's so versatile and I thought this red and green worked well to give the page a Christmas feel to it.  I have made so many pages using this kit - love it!

Connie Prince makes the most awesome digital kits.  Her colours are bright and her kits are fun and I am always attracted to her kits!  I just love colour!  You can see her blog here if you are interested in having a look.  She is currently having some great '12 days of Christmas' sales so you should head over for a look and see what bargains you might find!  She also regularly posts freebies on her blog so it's always worth a look.

And while I'm in a 'let's record my boy's drawings' kind of mood, here is another layout for our Project Life book that shows some more of their recent drawings.

I'm all about 'simple' when it comes to my scrapping.  I like straight lines (most of the time), I like bright, fun colours, and I like the photos to take centre stage.  I am usually a minimalist with embellishing (although I do love looking at other people's work that has lots of layering and embellishments).

Papers on this page are also from Connie Prince 'Growth Spurt' kit.
The 'draw', texta and pencils are from Creashens 'I love colour' kit.  This kit is lots of fun too, with bright colours and cute little embellishments.

I used templates from Deb Fisher 'Squareplaytes' collection.  I have a lot of her templates -  they suit my 'clean and simple' style of scrapping perfectly.  These were purchased from Pickleberrypop.

A digi page

Here is one of my most recent digital pages that I have made for my Project Life book.  I love taking photos of my boys artwork and including it in the project, it makes for great memories and is great for showing their progress over time.
Some of my favourite artwork memories that I have photographed have been:
-  The first time Rory wrote his name
-  The first time both my boys drew a person
-  Beautiful paintings or artwork that is something a bit unusual or out of the ordinary (such as a pretty string painting that Rory did with lots of bright colours)

Not only do I get a kick out of seeing their development but they love looking at the pictures in the book and noticing that their drawings are improving.

The drawing of the person in the above layout has a funny little story behind it.  You can read all about it on my beautiful cousin Em's blog, You learn something new every day.  It is such a great blog, I check in every day to read her latest post.  She posts a new 'life lesson' every day and they usually make me laugh out loud!   Go check out her blog if you'd like a good read!

This layout used the "Freshly Elegant" digital kit by kimbroedelet graphics and designs.  You can find her blog here.  I really love this kit, the colours are great and the elements are beautiful - this kit could be used for so many different types of layouts.  I have actually also used it for an elegant page with photos of my Grandparents when they were younger.

I used a digital  template to create this page but I cannot for the life of me remember where it came from.  If you recognise the template then please let me know so that I can give credit to the designer.

I have been a bit slow on the card making this last week or two.  I have two boys who love to 'craft' whenever I venture near my scrapping desk and so most of the time my good intentions to create cards have become impromptu children's card making classes!  Here is a sample of what my boys have created.  They made these cards for their friend George's 3rd birthday.  Perhaps I should enter them into the Birthday Sundaes challenge?!!

A very floral digi page

Here is a double page that I have made for my Project Life album.  I was over a month behind with my digi pages until yesterday when I finally caught up - yay!  I'm actually one day in front now...just have to make sure I take no photos today!
Here is my very floral double page:

 I was going to add quotes and embellishments about Spring and colour but I thought the photos were so bright and colourful on their own that I would leave it as is.  Don't you just love Spring - all those colours and the beautiful sunshine...I love it!

I've been doing Project Life since June 2009.  I read about it on Becky Higgins' blog and loved the concept.  Back then I wasn't sure how I would go with making sure to take enough photos and keep up with the journalling so I just bought myself a  D-ring binder and the page inserts and I was off!  I love that I have a record of my boys as they are growing up and that I have recorded the funny things they say and do and all their little milestones.  We often sit down and flip through the albums and they laugh as they remember all the fun times and things they have done.  My pages tend to be full of 'people photos' so the last few months I have been trying to make an effort to photograph more of the everyday things in our lives (such as the way my son helps with the washing and uses six pegs to hold one sock on the line!)  I also try to include photos of their art and craft projects and any drawings they do that show new developments.

This year is the first year that I have gone completely digital and I am loving it.  It is so much quicker and easier for me to complete.  I'm not big on the embellishing, I just like my pages to be finished quickly and tell our story.  Each week I can sit down at the computer on a Sunday, pick out my favourite photos from the week and make a double page in about 30 minutes.  It makes me feel so organised!  I used to do paper scrapbooking and I loved it but I would get so frustrated at how behind I was in scrapping all my photos and each page would take me FOREVER to complete!  Now I just buy digital templates and all the hard work has been done for me!  I just add some digi papers and a handful of digi embellishments and I am done.
