Birthday wishes card

Finally I have made a card!  It's been a long time, been lacking inspiration and enthusiasm...however, I finally got to my craft table today and made this quick little card.
Initially it was going to be a sympathy card but when I went to stamp the sentiment I decided that it looked a bit too cheerful to be sympathy, so I changed my mind and went with a 'Birthday Wishes' sentiment instead.

I'm entering this in the Daring Cardmakers challenge - use lace and pearls on a card.  There are some lovely card samples on this site using beautiful lace.  I haven't entered a challenge there for ages so it will be nice to be back into it!

Thanks for looking!

'Have a whale of a time' birthday card

I made this card using the Card Positioning Systems sketch #245.  The waves on my card represent the horizontal bits and the ribbon represents the vertical part of the sketch.  It is so interesting (and inspiring) to look at how everyone can use the same sketch but interpret it so differently.

I am also entering this card in the following two challenges:

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #36 - Our challenge this week is to create a birthday card using your old neglected stash (and you must tell us in your post what those items are)!  As always, don't forget the birthday wording on your card front!

Well, pretty much everything on this card is from my old, neglected stash!  The whale was made from scraps of cardstock; the light, speckled background patterned paper is about three to four years old (Bo Bunny Press); the waves were made from various patterned papers from two different Kaisercraft paper packs ('Rewind' collection and 'Jungle Bug' collection) which I have had for over a year; the ribbon has been in my stash for AGES; and the stamped 'Have a whale of a time' was done using a set of alphabet stamps that I have had for years and years.  I love making cards from scraps!

Daring Cardmakers - The theme for this week's cardmaking is:  WATER

You could make a card with a watery theme (lakes, rivers, fishies, boats etc), or maybe you'll find a way to actually use some water in the making of your card eg colouring with watercolours.
