Smile!

Just a happy little card I made using my new chevron dies.  Don't you just love rainbow colours - they are so fun and cheerful!
The 'smile' stamp is by CC Designs
The face stamp is a Peachy Keen stamp - everyday face assortment

When my 3 year old son looked at the card he said, "Mum, I like your card but look, you forgot to do zig zags down the bottom.  You should have done pink zig zags on the bottom!"  Thanks for the feedback mate!

Hope your day is bright and sunny!

Peachy Keen Challenge

I have been keeping good with my promise to myself to start using my stash.  I am loving going through all my leftover pieces and using them on cards.

This card was made for the Peachy Keen 'anything goes' challenge.  The stamped bunny face is from the Peachy Keen 'Animal faces - small' set.  I think it's rather cute!  Peachy Keen have a great sale going on at the moment, but it's just for one day - definitely worth checking out if you love their stamps.

The rabbit and present were cut from the Birthday Bash cricut cartridge.
The sentiment stamp is a CC Designs one.

I am loving making smaller cards - they are so much fun to make and so quick and easy.  This card is 4x4 inches and is perfect as a little card to add with a birthday present.

Dragonfly card

Don't you just love this cute little 'wink face'!  It is my favourite Peachy Keen face.  It's from the Everyday Faces set and I use them all the time.

Please excuse the dreadful lighting in these photos - it's almost dark here and I only have a couple of hours to go before the Paper Playtime challenge ends...so I found the room with the most light (our ensuite), turned on all the lights, tried to get my shadow out of the photo and then clicked and hoped for the best!

This little card was made for two challenges:

Paper Playtime:  For challenge #7 use any type of DIE CUT and/or DIE CUTTING machine and make a BUG CARD!  I chose to use the dragonfly from the Create a critter cartridge.  I hope that dragonflies are considered bugs!  I did have a look at the other entries and there were lots of bees, snails and dragonflies so I think I'm right!

Peachy Keen Stamps:  Anything goes challenge - must use Peachy Keen stamps.  I used my peachy face for the dragonfly - you know those faces can be added to just about anything!  I first bought them to use exclusively with my Paper Doll Dressup and Everyday Paper doll cartridges, but now I'm enjoying using them for all sorts of things such as faces for flowers, suns, critters...the list is endless!  I've seen them used on cakes, couches, carrots, strawberries...they make the images come to life and look so cute.

I used the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge to cut out the card base in dark blue and also to cut out the green scallop frame.  This cartridge continues to surprise me.  I got it for free when I bought my cricut expression and to be honest, I had a quick flip through the booklet and wasn't overly impressed or excited by many of the images.  But there are a few little surprises in there and I am so glad that I had another look at it and found the card bases and frames - I think I'll be using these a lot more now.

I cut the card at 4 inches and the scalloped frame at 3 1/4 inches.  The dragonfly was 2 3/4 inches.  Patterned papers are from a Jillibean Soup collection - I think it's called Owl Soup.  I wanted the sentiment to say, "Fluttering by to say hi" but given my space restrictions, I settled for the much shorter "hello" sentiment.

Astronaut Spinner card

The new challenge at Peachy Keen stamps is a colour inspiration challenge.  I knew exactly what to do as soon as I saw those colours - an astronaut slider card!  I love bright colours and this colour combo was perfect for this card.  Bright red, orange, yellow, blue and green - LOVE IT!

I used the Everyday Faces peachy keen stamp for his face - I use these stamps all the time.  They are my go-to stamps!

I have attempted a very short video (a whole 4 seconds!) to show you how the card works, however, our terrible internet connection drops in and out so it may mean that it doesn't work - but I have tried! My very obliging 5 year old held the card and made it spin for me - he thinks it's the most wonderful thing ever!  As for the video being in black and white...no it's not a creative feature that I thought would be effective, just my boys using my camera and accidentally fiddling with the settings...and I don't know how to change it back!

Hope it works!

Have a roaring good birthday!

I made this birthday card for my nephew who will be turning 3 in a couple of weeks.  The layout of the card was inspired by a card I saw made by Mary from Cardz TV.

The lion was cut from the Animal Kingdom cartridge - I have barely used this cartridge and have not touched it since the 'Create a critter' cartridge arrived so it was nice to use an old cartridge again!  The grass was cut on my cuttlebug with a die from 'My Favourite Things'.

I am entering it into 2 challenges:
Peachy Keen Stamps - Anything goes (use Peachy keen stamps).  I stamped the lion's face using the 'Animal faces (small)' stamp set.  Love those stamps, they give a real crisp image.
BBTB2 - Balloon birthday card (My balloons were cut on my cricut using the 'Birthday Bash' cartridge, page 67)

How cute is that face!!  Gotta love those peachy keen stamps!

Peachy Keen Stamps Friendship Challenge

I made this card especially for the Peachy Keen stamps challenge this week.

THE CHALLENGE:
We want you card-makers to show us your SKILLZ! This week, create a card using theme provided: FRIENDSHIP!
Your card can include any stamps but remember you can only earn "Top Peach" if you use your Peachy Keen Stamps!
I used my Peachy Keen Everyday Face Assortment stamps for the faces - I just love this stamp set - they are so cute!  They give so much more character to the images when they have a cute face.

I used my cuttlebug for the first time on this card (yay!), it is a very new purchase and I am very excited to own one.  I used the swiss dots embossing folder on the sand.  Love it - I just have to resist the urge to give everything swiss dots!

The crab, fish, cloud and sun are all from Create a Critter.  I love that little crab - he is just so cute!
Don't you just love him!
A little bit of sewing around the edge of the card, a little bit of faux stitching around the critters and the card is done. Just need to give it to my crab-ulous friend!

Clown Birthday Card

This card has been the cause of much frustration and disappointment!  It could have something to do with me taking three attempts just to make the base of the card and then nothing seemed to work from then on!  The first attempt made it into the bin after some crooked cutting made the card look ridiculous!  The second attempt quickly followed into the bin after some incorrect measurements (my fault, not the instructions) caused the 'flip flop' part to flop way out the side (again, making it look ridiculous!).  My third attempt at making the base was successful but I just am not happy with it.  I think it's because I did it on black cardstock and I should have used pink or yellow.  Something about the card just really annoys me!  It has had two different lots of ribbon attached and pulled off and then in the end I just thought, well, this is it, it's not going to get any better!

I love the style of the card, just not so happy with how it all came together.  The colours on these photos are not as vivid as in real life, the cardstock behind the clown is actually bright turquoise but it looks blue in this photo.  The pinks and aquas look a bit washed out in these pictures too.  Anyway, here it is, in all its not-so-perfect glory!

Here is how the card looks from the front (excuse my finger in the photo!):

And this is how it flips as you open the card:

Once it is open, the centre piece flips to reveal the other side, where you can have your sentiment and write your birthday message.

The instructions for this flip-flop card came from here.  I think I need to go and make another one in a different colour to see how that works!

I am entering this card in the Peachy Keen sketch challenge.  I rotated the sketch 90 degrees to make it work for this card.  Here is the sketch:

The clown on the card is from Paper Doll Dress ups (cut at 2.5 inches).
The sentiments are from Kaisercraft.
Papers are from My Minds Eye
